The site is the location of a proposed residential development that has sparked controversy in the area.
The land is zoned heavy industrial and the proposal is for it to be rezoned to allow for residential development.
The proposal is to allow the rezoning, not to approve any specific development at the site.
"Our goal with the Corrimal Coke Works proposal is to ensure that our community is informed, involved and able to have a say and be listened to, at every stage of the project," Wollongong Lord Mayor Gordon Bradbery said.
"This is a significant proposal, and that's why it's been on public exhibition for a longer period of time than required.
"This draft proposal will have big implications for Corrimal, so it's important that we get this right from the very beginning by listening to the wants and needs of our community."
The window for feedback closes on August 31.
