Just a year after being charged following an altercation in the same area last year, Starling was one of four people arrested on Wednesday over a Saturday night incident.

Police claim the group were denied entry into a venue in Terrigal due to capacity limits before the incident.

"It is alleged the group became agitated and threatened the man several times before walking away from the venue," NSW Police said in a statement.

Starling and a 20-year-old woman then allegedly fled from the scene when police arrived.

However he was on Wednesday charged with threatening or causing injury to a potential witness/juror and behaving in an offensive manner in a public place after attending Gosford Police Station.

It comes after Starling faced six charges of attacking four police officers in the same area last year were dropped in January.

Starling has pleaded not guilty to another charge of hindering an officer from that incident.

The 23-year-old will appear before Gosford Local Court on January 11, while the NRL are aware of the incident.

It does however remain to be seen what impact it could have Starling's career and the potential flow-on effects.

Starling is contracted until the end of 2022, but is believed to have been close to signing a new deal that would have secured his status as the Raiders' first-choice hooker.

In turn, Hodgson was in talks with the Tigers about an immediate move to the joint-venture for next season in a bid to give them some strike out of dummy-half.

For the past week, it has appeared the only sticking point in that move is what portion of his mega contract the Raiders would be willing to pay next year.

However if Starling's future is clouded, Canberra may be unwilling to part with their other hooker despite giving him permission to look elsewhere.

Meanwhile, the NRL integrity unit is also considering what punishment to hand out to George Burgess, after he pleaded guilty to a road rage incident on Tuesday.

Burgess is set to revive his career at St George Illawarra next year, after signing a two-year deal just before being charged over the incident.
