The NSW testing system continues to strain under increased demand, with residents of the Illawarra and other parts of the state experiencing hours-long waits.
NSW Health says people should only seek a PCR test - the test performed at these clinics - if they have COVID symptoms, are a close household contact, or NSW Health has directed them to as they have attended a venue with high transmission of the virus.

Queensland no longer requires NSW travellers to undergo a PCR test before crossing the border, with Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk announcing on Wednesday that her state would accept a negative result from a rapid antigen test from January 1.
Below is a list of the Illawarra's testing clinics and their opening hours during this time.
- Albion Park drive-through, Albion Park Showground: Open 8am to 6pm, closed Saturday, January 1
- Balgownie walk-in, shop 5 145 Balgownie Road: Closed until January 5
- Barrack Heights drive-through, Centre Health Complex, Captain Cook Drive: Open 8am to 6pm from December 29 to 31, then 8am to noon from January 1 to January 3
- Bellambi drive-through and walk-in, soccer field car park, Armour Street: Closed until January 4
- Berkeley drive-through, Illawarra Sports Stadium car park: Open 8am to 5pm, closed Saturday, January 1
- Bulli drive-through, Bulli Showground: Open 8am to 4pm from December 29 to 31, 8am to noon from January 1 to 3, and 8am to 4pm on January 4
- Dapto drive-through and walk-in, Lakelands Oval: Closed until January 4
- Fairy Meadow drive-through, North Dalton Park: Open 7.30am to 5pm from December 29 to 31, closed January 1, open 8am to 5pm on January 2 and 3
- Figtree drive-through, 11 Princes Highway: Open 8am to noon December 29 to 31, closed January 1 to 3
- Gerringong drive-through, Gerringong Medical and Cosmetic Centre: Open 8am to 4pm December 29 and 30, closed December 31 and January 1, open 8am to noon January 2
- Helensburgh Respiratory Clinic: By appointment
- Kiama drive-through, Kiama netball courts: Open 8am to noon December 29 to 31, closed January 1 to 3, open 8am to 4pm January 4
