Amali Dimond, 15, sung to her biggest crowd - thousands upon thousands watching from every corner of the nation - with her rendition of I'm Outta Love by Anastacia on The Voice.
While no judges turned their chair, Keith Urban told the teen she had "a beautiful voice" as well as encouraging words of advice.
"You tackled a big, big song and you did a really great job with that," he said. "If you actually rein it back down a bit it's actually all there; some people have to compensate with what they're lacking but you're not."
Guy Sebastian noted Amali kept "pushing" her performance to try and get the judges to notice, but encouraged her to focus on the song next time she'd audition for the show.
I don't regret it a single bit, it's the most amazing experience of my whole life.
- Amali Dimond
"My heart was beating faster than it's ever beat, I was so nervous, everyone was so amazing," Amali told the Mercury.
"It was so surreal when I was standing at the door about to go on stage, I was like 'I can't believe this was happening'."
Sport has been a popular past time for the 6 foot tall teen (he dad used to play NRL for the Cronulla Sharks and her grandfather also played footy), but singing and performing has taken the spotlight.
"Mum got me into singing when I was around eight-years-old, I was such an energetic child ... singing got me out there and built up my confidence," Amali said.
"I wanted to go on The Voice because I wanted to grow as an artist, experience new things and be a better performer."
The teenager admitted she had loved watching the reality television program over the last 11 years and when much younger used to pretend with her friends to "fake audition" for the show when playing at home.
Although she didn't get through to the next round the auditioning process was well worth it, with Urban coming up to the teenager afterwards to offer further encouragement for her performing career and chat to her family.
"He said 'you have so much potential, I want you to never give up'," Amali recalled.
"I don't regret it a single bit, it's the most amazing experience of my whole life."
The singer said all of the judge's comments about her performance she will take on board, and noted the experience has also boosted her confidence to perform for larger crowds.
It comes after another South Coast resident, carpenter Shaun Wessel appeared on the reality contest last week, picked up by Team Urban.
The Kings Point father nailed his rendition of Whipping Post by the Allman Brothers Band.
