Fire and Rescue NSW units from Warrawong, Shellharbour and Albion Park responded to the Harvey Street blaze about 1am, following reports the house was well alight.
A search of the home confirmed there was nobody home at the time. Fire and Rescue NSW inspector Jay Bland said firefighters extinguished the blaze within 45 minutes and prevented it from spreading.
‘‘We were alerted pretty quickly so we were able to prevent the fire from spreading to other properties,’’ he said.
