Police were called to Kiama Bowling Club, on Noorinan Street, just before 11.30pm on April 26, following reports of an armed robbery.
It was reported that two men, allegedly armed with a pistol and a knife, entered the club and threatened staff, demanding cash.
Officers were told a male patron challenged the man armed with the gun, who then fired it.
The round missed the patron and hit the wall behind him.
The alleged robber then left on foot with some cash.
No-one was injured in the incident.
On Monday, investigators attended a Port Kembla home.
A 21-year-old man fled from police, jumping several fences before he was arrested in a nearby garage.
The man was taken to Lake Illawarra Police Station where he was charged with armed robbery, along with several firearms offences.
He was refused bail to front Wollongong Local Court today.
Glenn Paul Robinson, 25, appeared briefly in Wollongong Local Court last week on a string of charges relating to the hold-up.
He did not apply for bail and it was formally refused.
Robinson is due to return to court on June 11.
