*The last stage of the 45-year planning agreement between Shellharbour council and developer UrbanGrowth (Landcom) will be finalised at this week’s meeting. The planning agreement for Project 7200, covering the land of Flinders, Blackbutt and Shellharbour City Centre, has reached its final stages and council will now consider a draft agreement with the developer. This will consider a $360,000 cash contribution and the handover of land at Benson Basin and Albatross Drive, Blackbutt. It is proposed this land will be community land.
*The results from the 2014 Illawarra Regional Information Service (IRIS) Community Survey will go before council and are available on the website.
*The future direction for Warilla Child Care Centre will go before the council. The land is leased by the council from Housing NSW who, as of 2015, confirmed they will enter into a new lease agreement. This will mean the council will have to pay $40,000 annually to lease the land. The council will consider the overall expenditure of the facility, review the centre's future feasibility and function within the community.
*Permitting places of worship in industrial zoned areas will be considered this week. A report outlining council’s Local Environment Plan (LEP) will table the status of permitting churches and other religious structures in industrial areas. The council will consider LEP amendment options for the various industrial zones.
*The Council will allocate funding of $16,000 for the Enhancing Urban Waterways on Lake Illawarra. This was received from the South East Local Land Services over 12 months for the vegetation and habitat restoration works on Lake Illawarra, which include Boonerah Point ($5000) and Pelican View Reserve ($11,000).
*The Council will discuss the planning proposals for land at Albion Park, Albion Park Rail, Croom, Tongarra and Warilla. The report will consider amendments to the LEP to reflect the current and future status of certain lands, introduce a minimum lot size to certain low density residential zoned areas and to permit food and drink premises within certain road zonings. If approved the amendments are to go on public exhibition.
*The council will consider a development application for a Torrens Title subdivision for part of the Shell Cove development. The proposal includes 24 residential lots of 399 metres squared to 700 metres squared, one super lot (9172 metres squared) and roads and drainage infrastructure.
*The annual Performance Monitoring by NSW department of Planning and Infrastructure report will go before council. This provides a “snapshot” to how the council is fairing compared to other council’s in the state in terms of planning and infrastructure.
*A Draft report on Shellharbour City Council’s compliance activity will go before councillors. As part of a state-wide move to reduce “red tape” costs for businesses and the community, the NSW government has engaged IPART to undertake a review of local government compliance and enforcement. This is the first of a series of “red tape” reviews.
*Grant funding of $44,000 and $15,000 of section 94 funds for stage one of the Crew Park, Warilla proposal will be considered by council. The money is set to go toward play equipment, seating and shading for Crew Park. The funds were obtained by Healthy Cities Illawarra for the 2528 Child Friendly by Design Project.
Shell Cove progress reports will be presented to council for the period of February 17, 2014 to June 15, 2014.
