Dubbo Railway's Jono Davis was rewarded for a scintillating two days on the greens with the NSW State Junior Singles title on Tuesday at Warilla Bowling Club.
The future star overcame Cabramatta representative Ellen Ryan 31-25 in a tightly contested final to take out the first silverware on offer at the state competition.
Davis earlier won through to the latter stages of the competition after dominating section one in the round stages.
The Central Western youngster took out his round games 25-2, 25-11 and 25-9 to progress to a semi-final against section two winner Luke Jones (Ballina).
He defeated Jones 31-20 before overcoming Ryan in the decider.
Ryan earlier beat Wiseman Park star Dylan Skinner in section four.
Her 25-13 first-up triumph over the Australian under-18s representative was crucial in knocking local talent out of contention.
Fours competition began on Wednesday and Zone 16 look in a strong position to challenge for honours late on Thursday.
The championship will finish up at Warilla with the pairs over the weekend.
