Shoalies came out full of purpose and had Kiama on the back foot to lead 12-5 before Kiama began to get their act together.
Halfback Luke Paget set the backs in motion, his outside men responding with three quick tries to take the Cows into the break with a 26-12 lead.
Coach Blocker Thomas rammed home the need to take the game by the throat and rip in during the second stanza, to which the players responded magnificently.
Veteran flanker Steve Emmett was a standout. He was ably supported by fellow flanker Mick Kauter and hooker Andrew Sulter.
Mick Quinn provided the ideal link for Sam Moore to score two long-range bullocking tries to give him a trifecta on the day. Benny Wade also scored a double but it was the maiden try to second rower Sam Davidson that sealed the Kiama victory 57-17.
Second grade had a tough afternoon, going down 34-0 to a very solid Shoalies outfit.
They put in a top effort but were outgunned by the speed and size of the home team.
Kiama now occupies third spot on the ladder and need a win against Shamrocks at home next week. With the injury toll mounting the result of this fixture against quality opposition such as Shammies will be a huge test. We need all supporters to turn up and cheer on Kiama rugby.
We also strongly support the Regal Regiment Trivia Night at Kiama Bowlo on August 16 at 6.30pm. Tickets are $20 each or get a table of 10 together - ring Amy on 0497 074 471.
