Work will start on Sunday to resurface the road between Mangerton and Mount Keira roads.
‘‘This work will improve safety for motorists and extend the life of the road to reduce future maintenance costs,’’ a Roads and Maritime Services spokesman said.
“Crown Street is a very well used road by the local community in and around Wollongong so work will be carried out at night to minimise traffic disruptions.’’
Work will be done between 7pm and 5am from Sunday until Thursday. One lane will be open to traffic with reduced speed limits.
The intersection of Crown and Powell streets will be closed on Sunday from 7pm to 5am.
Motorists headed northbound on Powell Street will be diverted via Woodlawn Avenue, Norman Street and Mangerton Road back to Crown Street.
The intersection of Crown Street and Mangerton Road will be closed to traffic on Tuesday night.
Motorists travelling north on Mangerton Road will be diverted via Rowland and Gladstone avenues back to Crown Street.
