With a name like The Vanns, it's only appropriate that they tour in a van.

And not just any van but a blue Kombi van, which features in the video for their latest single Operator.
"It's my Kombi van," singer and guitarist Jimmy Vann says.
"That was our tour bus for the first half of the tour. It got us halfway around the country, which was good.
"I had to book it in to get the rust done, because the rust is eating it away, being a typical Kombi van near the ocean."
The tour he's talking about is one that started in February and has seen them play shows in every state except Western Australia. The tour, which is in support of their new EP Scattered By Sundown, wraps up in late April with two shows at Wollongong's Rad Bar.
Vann says the shows have been going well and the reception to the new material on the five-track EP has been good.
"We're looking to getting that out to as many people as possible and then doing another one, or even a full-length album," Vann says.
"At this point in time we're just working on two singles, so we'll jump in the studio and do them and then it will depend on how they're received and how we're writing."
Whether they end up recording an album will depend on the quality of the songs the band comes up with.
"We don't want to go into the studio with a handful of really good ones and then have to fill in the gaps," he says. "We want to have a full release that we're really happy with."
The Scattered By Sundown EP was produced by Mark Opitz, who is a well-known Australian producer who worked with pretty much all the iconic acts of the 1970s and 1980s.
"I'd heard his name before we went in to record with him, through listening to INXS," Vann says.
"It was just crazy when we got to work with him because he's such an iconic producer. He's produced AC/DC, INXS and basically every Aussie rock band.
"We got to him through our manager. He listened to our tunes and he really liked the vibe and what we were going for."
Vann admits they weren't just recording in the studio; there was plenty of time devoted to prodding Opitz to tell them some stories about a few Oz rock legends.
"I'd say it was 50-50," Vann says.
"He's got plenty of interesting stories and he told us a few about INXS. I won't go too much into detail, but they were pretty wild."
The Vanns will be at Rad Bar in Wollongong on April 25 (over 18) and April 26 (all ages).
