After a three year break, legends of Aussie rock Cold Chisel are getting back in the saddle and bringing their ‘One Night Stand’ tour to Wollongong on December 13.
The announcement was made just before kick off at State of Origin 1 Wednesday night, with the national tour to begin with a mini-concert at the NRL Grand Final in October before winding their way to the Wollongong Entertainment Centre.
Tickets are expected to sell quickly for the rock gods of more than 40 years, as it only took minutes for 20,000 seats to be snapped up by fans for two Sydney shows announced in March.
‘‘The reaction was ballistic. The demand blew our minds, suggesting that it was time for us to get back out there," said frontman Jimmy Barnes
The Illawarra last heard classics like Choir Girl and Flame Trees from the ARIA Hall of Fame Inductees in 2011 in their ‘Light The Nitro’ tour – the biggest ever by an Australian-based band – and Guitarist Ian Moss said they can’t wait to feel that connection with the audience once again.
‘‘We’ve come to realise that there’s a certain magic and chemistry in Cold Chisel that we don’t get anywhere else,’’ said Moss.
