The X-Man, nicknamed because of his classical bodybuilding X-frame, may look like a force to be reckoned with but has no problems sharing his weightlifting expertise with men and women of all shapes and sizes.
The high-profile US athlete will tell Illawarra residents on Friday what it takes to be an IFBB pro on the world stage, but also share his fitness tips and secrets for staying motivated.
Team Flex Australia operations manager Christopher Blunt said Freeman’s Wollongong visit is his only NSW appearance during his Australian tour.
The company, with supplement stores in Woonona and Albion Park, was hell-bent on securing the X-Man to give Illawarra gym enthusiasts access to world-class athletes.
‘‘We think it’s great to bring high profile athletes to the Illawarra. It’s not only great for the area but it’s going to be beneficial for a lot of people’s health and fitness goals,’’ Mr Blunt said.
‘‘In our industry, bodybuilders make up such a small minority of our customers. We get a lot of mums and first-time trainers, so we really are about providing opportunities for people who want to improve their health and fitness in general.’’
Mr Blunt said Freeman’s free seminar would cover a broad range of issues.
‘‘He will talk about his background and his history in bodybuilding but then he will move into supplements and nutrition.
‘‘He’ll share some stories of his time in the industry, what it takes to be the X-man, and help with motivation and training.’’
More than 100 Illawarra residents have already advised they will be attending, so the supplement store has made room for the X-Man – hosting his visit at Club Lime in Wollongong from 5pm to 7pm.
Meantime it plans to host another seminar on training, nutrition and supplementation at Genesis Fitness Club, Albion Park, on August 15 from 5pm-6pm.
US pro bodybuilders Marc Lobliner, Doug Miller and Sean Torbati will be stars of the show.
