Colin Rathbone and Denise Williams, the president of the committee, presented the cheque to Alex Collins, regional manager for Vision Australia Wollongong on Wednesday morning.
The Kiama Friends of Vision Australia was formed in 1981.
Since then they have raised almost $170,000; in more recent years the figure has been about $5000 to $6000 per year.
They raise these funds via an annual dinner dance, high tea and through other fund-raising raffles.
They also raise money through a collection tin at a local business.
There are five members of the committee.
The money raised by this group goes to support local people who are blind or have low vision.
