While the veteran trainer admitted the autumn was a more likely target, he earmarked plans for a short spring tilt for his classy four-year-old.
‘‘She will go to The Nivison next start and we will think about it after that,” Murray told Sky Thoroughbred Central.
‘‘The owners are a bit keen for Melbourne but I would have to have a look at the programs and just see.
‘‘First things first here.’’
The Group 3 The Nivison (1200m) is held at Randwick on October 17 and was won by Avoid Lightning in 2014.
The stable will decide the next step for the mare after the run.
Jockey Jason Collett, who rode Fine Mist on Monday, was keen to stick on wherever she was placed.
‘‘I think she has got a few decent races in her,’’ he said.
‘‘She measured up last preparation on a track which didn’t suit her at Randwick that day.
“She ran fourth behind a subsequent Group 1 winner so the form is there.’’
Collett gave Fine Mist a perfect ride just off the speed in Monday’s Pro-Ride Flying (1000m) to take the sprinter’s record to an impressive six wins and one second from 13 starts.
He stormed past race favourite Diamond Oasis at the furlong pole to win by a length on the line in front of Onemorezeta and Slots.
‘‘She was very relaxed [on Monday]. She is starting to mature mentally now and I think it was a very nice win,” Murray said.
‘‘I thought she could win even though there was some pretty hard heads in there with Zaratone and a few of them but she had the lightest weight I think she has ever carried [for this race].
‘‘She did it well.’’
Fine Mist’s win capped off a great seven days for the Murray camp.
The stable’s Stradbroke Handicap hope Sure And Fast returned in winning form last Wednesday at Rosehill.
Josh Parr was caught three wide with cover on the top weight carrying 60kg, but proved much too good in the More Than Ready @ Vinery Handicap Benchmark 80 (1200m).
Murray told The Punt last month his intention to only give the Provincial Championships victor a couple of runs this preparation before targeting Sure And Fast at Queensland’s carnival next winter.
The trainer also added another country cup to his cabinet when Darci’s Affair ran away with the Darley 2015 Cootamundra Cup (1600m) on Sunday.
