Owner Adam Murphy said the popular three storey venue with rooftop bar was teaming up with a number of businesses to create a ‘lifestyle’ month they are calling Humberfest.
“It will be jam-packed with loads of exciting events,” Mr Murphy said.
“April 2016 will become a great opportunity to liven up the Wollongong CBD, and give people the chance to explore different things, learn something new, or try something completely out of the ordinary.”
Mr Murphy said events were varied and included weekly rooftop yoga classes, movie nights, wine and cheese tasting events, cocktail classes, coffee tastings, dessert nights, cultural food weeks and a night dedicated to all things gin.
Humberfest activities will begin with a launch party on Friday April 1.
It will feature a range of food and beverage items.
“We will be giving a sampling of the things that will be going on throughout that month,” Mr Murphy said.
“It is open to everyone. And we will have all different stands and things like oyster bars set up on the day. It will be throughout the whole building on all three levels.”
The launch is essentially a day long event that will be followed by more live entertainment that night.
Mr Murphy said the idea started with a discussion about trying to come up with some monthly lifestyle activities in the city centre and this was something he thought Humber could do towards that end.
“It is a bit like a traditional food and wine festival...but combining it with other activities like yoga and desserts and that kind of thing,” he said.
“We just want to deliver variety to help drive more people into the CBD who might not normally come in. And a lot of different organisations have jumped on board and think it is a good thing.”
Definition Fitness, White Cliff Wines, CMG Audio Visual and i98fm are among the businesses involved.
“We have an ongoing relationship with CMG Audio Visual and Brendan Bate is doing the wine tasting. He looks after all of our wines. There are quite a few different organisations on board,” Mr Murphy said.
Among those attending the announcement of the festival were Ben Wright, Tobi Pinazza, Brendan Bate, Alan Davis, Dwayne Robinson, Thomas Costello, Maje Saba and Fairlie Hamilton.
Mr Murphy said humberfest.com.au had been set up with information about what was happening when.
He said it had various sections with relevant details.
