Perhaps it was the chill in the air, or a desire to learn more about a tradition from a bygone era, but weekend visitors to Bulli Show flocked to the main pavilion to see wool being spun.

Children and their parents just couldn’t resist touching the soft fleece and watching the experts from Wollongong Handweavers and Spinners Group spin it into a recognisable ball of wool.
Shirley Connor, aged 80, has been a member of the group for 20 years. Proudly pointing to a delicate cream knitted scarf on display that earned her a blue ribbon this year, Mrs Connor said she enjoyed demonstrating how to spin the fleece and turn it into usable items.
“It’s nice to see there is still a lot of interest among the younger people,” she said.
Billed as “the little show with the big heart”, Bulli Show attracted a loyal and enthusiastic crowd this year, with traditional exhibits including baked goods, plants, poultry, arts and crafts still popular. Families also enjoyed rides, showbags and Saturday night fireworks.
