It is a significant milestone highlighting decades of commitment to serving, training and supporting people with a disability through the provision of meaningful employment. Employees, customers and the community can come on Tuesday between 12 and 3pm to celebrate the important day for the organisation that Chris Wade, of Remondis, described as a reliable business that delivered a high standard of work for all customers. Since 1966, the Flagstaff Group has set out to achieve a social purpose for the good of the community by providing meaningful employment to people with a disability.
Flagstaff was established in 1966 by founder Len Bland. It started with just 20 employees working on engineering activities. But during the last five decades it has grown to now employ 340 people including 275 with disabilities working across seven diverse businesses.
The Fine Foods, Print and Mail, Paper and Cardboard Recycling, Commercial Laundry, Coffee and Corporate Catering, Engineering, Packaging and Assembly divisions provide a range of services.
Special guests at the open day at Nolan St, Unanderra on Tuesday include founding board member John Chaplin and NSW Minister for Disability Services John Ajaka.
There will also be a site tour at 2pm.
