Royal Caribbean’s Radiance of the Seas will dock at Port Kembla in October and Mr Park said work needs to be done on Mt Keira.
“Wollongong City Council together with National Parks needs to implement a strategy to clean up this iconic lookout, at present it’s embarrassing and we can do better,” he said.
But Wollongong Lord Mayor said the council was doing “our bit”.
“We’ve removed the old restaurant and facilities up there that are condemned,” he said.
“We’ve done work on the trees to improve the view, the trees that were impeding the views from the lookout.”
He said the work was part of a broader strategy to prepare the city for the ship’s arrival, which would also include developing the area around Lang Park as a “common assembly point” for the ship’s passengers.
