Paramedics were called to O’Briens Road just after 3.15pm and treated the girl for an ankle injury, an Ambulance NSW spokesman said.
Wollongong police leading senior constable Kym Hutton said the girl ran in front of the car and was taken to hospital as a precaution.
“Unfortunately he’s clipped her, speed wasn’t an issue,” senior constable Hutton said.
The 66-year-old driver, who had his granddaughter in the car with him, estimated he was driving at 15km/h at the time of the incident.
“I’m more worried about her,” he said.
He had just exited the roundabout at the intersection of Murray Park and O’Briens roads when the incident occurred.
