The dash cam vision was captured on Saturday night – smack bang in the middle of the NSW Police Force’s high-visibility, state-wide traffic blitz, dubbed Operation Slowdown.
The footage, which runs for just over a minute and is called “Busted”, shows the dash cam vehicle travelling at the signposted 80km/h speed limit when another vehicle overtakes it about 9.10pm.
“Wow … He’s in a hurry,” captioning on the clip reads.
Editing then takes viewers on a fast-forwarded trip along the road, which is windy at times.
Police lights are seen behind the other car just a couple of minutes later, the cam’s time stamp shows.
“Some guy in Nowra decides speeding on a main road during a Saturday night of the long weekend is a good idea (It's not),” the video description on YouTube said.
The clip was also posted on the NSW Police Traffic and Highway Patrol Command’s Facebook page late on Monday afternoon with just a few words explanation – #SlowDown and “#meanwhile in Nowra”.
In an appeal issued just hours earlier, police said the number of drivers detected speeding across the long weekend remained a concern.
More than 4600 traffic infringement notices for speeding had been issued by the end of the third day of Operation Slowdown, an increase of 641 issued compared with the same period in 2015.
Traffic and Highway Patrol Commander, Acting Assistant Commissioner David Driver, said the behaviour of some road users putting themselves and others at risk by speeding was a major concern.

“It is imperative that road users not only slow down, but also drive to the conditions, both of the road and their vehicles,” he said.
“With vehicles carrying more people and more luggage, vehicles become heavier, need longer distances and longer time to stop so we’re urging all road users to take extra care and slow down.”
Meanwhile, holidaymakers heading home from a long weekend away were met with the usual Illawarra and South Coast traffic delays on Monday.
At one stage, delays of 50 minutes were being experienced northbound on the Princes Highway at Nowra.
