President David Smark inducted our newest member, Marie McLaren into the club last week. Maree will represent the vocation of Business Systems and becomes part of a world-wide organisation of business and professional leaders who are united in fellowship to provide humanitarian service, to encourage high ethical standards in all vocations and to create goodwill and achieve peace throughout the world. Maree will serve on our International Service Committee.
Maree joined the rest of the club at the very successful Easter Sunday Kiama Seaside Markets fund-raising barbeque. It was a beautiful, warm autumn day with many out-town-visitors helping keep us busy the whole day.
Some members have been carrying out maintenance and installing new seats at Saddleback Mountain Lookout over the past couple of weeks.
The 2017 Rotary NSW Emergency Services Community Service Awards remain open for nominations. Members of the public and fellow officers are encouraged to nominate emergency service personnel who they think have performed community service above and beyond the call of their normal duties by submitting entries online at: http://www.rotaryescawards.org.au. Nominations close on Friday, May 12, 2017.
KIAMA LIONS
Last week we elected Rob McKinnon to be our President for the year June 2017-8 The Changeover will be on June 22nd.
Over the Easter weekend we helped the local SUDU Dragon Boat team raise money for a new boat by providing the BBQ. Our Driver Reviver teams were also busy.
The Respite house has progressed well. All the asbestos has been removed or dealt with safely. If you see the house currently you will see the green Sarking in place. This will act as a basic insulation and water barrier. The next phase will be to cover the Sarking in Cladding which is being supplied free by CSR for which we are extremely grateful.
We will have been busy by the time you read this as we will have done a BBQ for Triple Care Farm and done the collection for the ANZAC day.
Our next meeting will be a Happy Hour Social at the home of one of our members
