‘’I just do,’’ she said.
But the Illawarra Christian School year 1 student knew she ‘’just had to’’ write a letter to the ‘’boss of Australia’’ and wish her a happy birthday.
But she didn’t expect in her wildest dreams that the Queen would read the letter, let alone get her ‘’servant’’ to respond to thank Isabelle for her ‘’kind wishes’’.
‘’When I got the letter I was very surprised. I felt really special,’’ the shy youngster told the Mercury.
Staunch monarchist James Petrovic said his daughter Isabelle was beyond delight when she received a letter from Buckingham Palace, passing on their thanks on behalf of Her Majesty.
‘’It’s not everyday a six-year-old gets a letter from the Queen. It’s fair to say Isabelle was beyond excited,’’ he said.
It was after learning about the Royal Family at school that Isabelle decided she would write in her best handwriting a letter to Her Majesty.
The letter read: Your Majesty, Wishing you a splendid birthday. I hope you have a great day. I hope you are very happy.’’
Isabelle, who also drew a crown and coloured it in, signed off with Your Servant, Isabelle Petrovic.
The crown went down a treat with the Queen.
‘’The picture of The Crown is beautifully drawn and coloured, thank you very much’’ wrote Lieutenant Colonel Michael Vernon on behalf of the Queen.
The Cordeaux Heights youngster was so happy she showed the letter to her fellow classmates, including Sebastian Fikkers, who said he might write a letter to the Queen as well.
