Wollongong lawyer Melinda Griffiths is a finalist in the 2017 Lawyers Weekly Australian Law Awards.

Ms Griffiths works for Slater and Gordon and is one of seven lawyers from the firm nationally to be named a finalist in the prestigious awards. She was also named a finalist in the 2016 Australian Law Awards. The only one from the Illawarra in the the regional/suburban category.
She has lived in Wollongong for more than 20 years and held many roles such as vice president of the Wollongong and Regional Law Society and vice president of the Wollongong Charter for the Women’s Lawyers.
Ms Griffiths works in Motor Vehicle Accident Law and has also also worked to set up a pro-bono advice service for refugees in the Illawarra and is passionate about improving legal assistance for women and children in situations of domestic abuse.
Winners will be announced on September 1 at The Star Sydney. More than 700 people are expected to attend.
