In May a new partnership was formed with Junior Chamber International (JCI) Illawarra to support leaders through the MentorMe program.
RDA Illawarra chief executive Debra Murphy said it involved JCI Illawarra providing its successful MentorMe program to Leadership Illawarra Program participants. She said the partnership was designed to strengthen the community leadership pool in the Illawarra as well as grow the mentor and mentee connections across the region.
“In my view, exceptional mentors can provide life-altering opportunities for our next generation of Illawarra leaders. I have no doubt the pool of Illawarra leadership talent will grow exponentially through this new partnership,” she said.
A Leadership Illawarra Program site visit and tour of the Blue Mile Tramway Project was held on July 17 followed by a meeting with Lord Mayor Gordon Bradbery and general manager David Farmer who shared their stories as local leaders. A combined MentorMe Midway event was then held on July 26 at the University of Wollongong as a check-in stage for participants to reflect on how their mentoring relationship was going.
