Olive’s, run by Michelle McLaughlin, can be found on the ground level of Bellambi Surf Life Saving Club on Morgan Place with gourmet burgers, health treats, protein balls and Di Manfredi coffee.
Another delicacy on the menu are homemade vanilla slices, a recipe handed down to Ms McLaughlin’s mother.
“The opportunity came up and once I went and looked at location it just thought it needed a cafe and it was an opportunity to bring some life into the area,” she said.
The dog-friendly cafe runs seven days from 7am to 4pm with business booming after just two weeks since opening – probably due to the high traffic area for surfers, cyclists, walkers and swimmers.
“The overall project to renew the surf club has been years in the making and we still have some things to do, but seeing this kiosk open is fantastic,” Surf Club President Craig Kershaw said.
“We wanted to create another place for locals to come together; it really is a community space.”
The improvements to the surf club were made possible by a government grant of $38,000.
