The doors will open for the first time when Wollongong Lord Mayor Gordon Bradbery officially cuts the ribbon at 9am on August 31.
The new store in the former Rebel sports store site can be accessed by the escalators on the southern side of the western end of Crown Street Mall or from the lower ground level of Wollongong Central. That level can be accessed from the central escalators just as was the case previously with Rebel.
TK Maxx Wollongong Central is the second TK Maxx store in the local area following the introduction of TK Maxx to Australia in April. The former Trade Secret store at Warrawong reopened as TK Maxx in May and remains.
Spokesperson Tessa Buenen said the new store would offer thousands of brands under one roof. She said the stock changes rapidly, creating an exciting treasure hunt shopping experience. “TK Maxx buyers travel the world to find the hottest products of the season from major labels, high street brands and up-and-coming designers”.
TK Maxx operates over 500 stores across seven countries - the United Kingdom, Ireland, Germany, Poland, Austria, the Netherlands. It has 35 stores in Australia.
