A woman’s body has been recovered from the water off Port Kembla’s Fishermans Beach on Friday afternoon.

Emergency services were called to Gloucester Boulevarde, next to the beach about 3.50pm a reports a body was floating about 100 metres offshore.
The body of an unidentified woman was recovered a short time later, and she has been confirmed dead.
At the scene, Lake Illawarra police Inspector Brian Pedersen said police had been called by a passerby reporting that a body was seen in the water.
“Our police rescue unit was quickly on the scene and the two police rescue operatives retrieved the body and brought the body back to land,” Inspector Pedersen said.
“The body is of a female who appears to be in her mid to late 30s. It’s early in the investigation and currently her identity is not known.”
“We’ll be making inquiries about who she is and the circumstances around her becoming in the water.”
Multiple resources, including police, police rescue, ambulance officers and the ambulance rescue helicopter attended the scene.
