Eight Aboriginal rugby league teams will descend on Sid Parrish Park in Figtree on Saturday, September 16 for the Kids in Care Cup.
The state-wide knockout competition is held annually during Foster Care Week to highlight the need for more Aboriginal foster carers.
But the Kids in Care Cup is more than just an Aboriginal rugby league knockout for event manager Rod Broad.
He said the annual showpiece provides the ideal opportunity to raise awareness about the out-of-home-care sector and more importantly recruit more Aboriginal foster carers.
Broad is also part of the Illawarra Titans Rugby League Football Club, which is hosting the event on the last day of Foster Care Week (September 10-16) to link in with the local out-of-home-care agencies to recruit more foster carers.
If past years are anything to go by about 5000 people will attend the fifth annual event to see some of NSW's best Aboriginal rugby league teams battle it out for the Kids in Care Cup.
Games run from 8am to 6pm on September 16. Entry is free for kids under 16 years, with a $5 charge for adults.
