Free Victor Chang Cardiac Research Institute heart health checks are being offered to the community at HCF Wollongong this week.

Cardiovascular disease is the leading cause of death in Australia and is the underlying cause of 30 per cent of deaths in a single year.
HCF’s 2016 Victor Chang program data shows that in Wollongong almost a quarter (23 per cent) of members tested when the Heart Health booths were last here presented with high cholesterol. 76 per cent did not know their cholesterol levels and 30 per cent of tested members were recommended to visit a GP for further assessment and health management.
HCF has partnered with the not-for-profit Victor Chang Cardiac Research Institute which is dedicated to fighting cardiovascular disease through research.
The charity and HCF are offering free Heart Health Checks The checks are free to all Members with Extras.at the Wollongong HCF branch to help people understand their individual risk factors for heart disease.
