The 50th running of the Illawarra Spring Show attracted a large crowd on Thursday.

The annual show, held at Berry Showground, attracted many quality entrants from as far afield as the Hunter Valley in the north and Bega in the south.
The show also attracted many past exhibitors and judges, among them were Cyril Wills, owner of the 1976 Spring Show Bellringer and Jack O’Gorman, owner of the inaugural Spring Show Bellringer and breeder of the 1969 winner.
The major winners included:
- Champion heifer – Wilgo Empire Ruth, shown by E and A Salway of Cobargo.
- Reserve champion heifer – Creighton Park Faith, shown by Bob Parker of Denman.
- Bellringer – Myrtle Holme Empress 62, shown by Tom and Kyleigh Cochrane of Pyree.
The show was followed by a sale of elite Illawarras after lunch, conducted by Dairy Livestock Services.
In total, 21 lots went under the hammer, the top sale price of $5,600 went to Eagle Park Tuck Angeline 4487, purchased by Paul Ringland of Bega. The lots averaged $3,170.
