If you wake early enough, you’ll see or hear Remondis waste trucks collecting household bins. Remondis Australia provides waste collection services for more than 15,000 commercial customers and, through partnerships with local authorities, approximately 2million residential premises.
It employs over 900 personnel and boasts a fleet of more than 600 waste collection and transport vehicles. As one of the world’s leading water, waste and environmental management organisations, Remondis Australia is dedicated to providing reliable and innovative solutions for the complete spectrum of commercial and municipal outputs – recyclable material, general waste, organic matter, liquids and more problematic wastes.
“Our future depends on our customer focus and the ability to provide our customers with a great service that can adapt to changing needs. The waste and recycling business is continuously changing and we need to provide emerging options as they evolve,” Illawarra region manager Christopher Wade said.
The Remondis Illawarra business is located in Unanderra and involves a commercial fleet of services complementing the residential collections contract with Wollongong City Council and Shellharbour City Council. It services 10million bins per annum in the Illawarra collecting 140,000 tonnes of waste and recycling product and travelling 1.6million kilometres each year.

The Remondis Illawarra operation employs directly and indirectly close to 100 Illawarra families and is proud to service every resident in the region through the combined collection contracts with Wollongong and Shellharbour city councils. “This privilege is not taken for granted and encourages us to support numerous charities and causes in the Illawarra,” Mr Wade said.
“What many people may not know is that we are a major supporter of Rotary NSW and have the Rotary wheel on the cabin of all of our trucks to advertise our partnership. Rotary is a good role model for a business that should be considerate of all in the local community.
Remondis supplies a full range of waste and recycling options for small and large businesses, including individual wheelie bins (MGBs), front lift bins and bulk bins for construction material as well as septic tank clean outs.
Remondis Australia provides education and training for personnel involved in waste management. During National Recycling Week from November 13-19, education officers for both Shellharbour and Wollongong city councils will visit numerous venues throughout their local government areas with giveaways for residents to celebrate.
