Gun fisherman Ryan Field hooked the marlin 300m off from Kiama Blowhole Point.
It was the first time he had caught a fish of this size from a jet ski.
Ryan used live bait to hook the marlin, and knew what it was the second it took hold of the bait.
He wrestled with the marlin for two hours, and his friend, Shane Arrold, who was driving the jet ski puttered towards the boat ramp with the fish still on the line, knowing they wouldn’t be able to hold the fish on the jet ski once it had been caught.
Ryan took a picture of his catch, had it smoked and divided up among friends and family.
