The NSW Government is seeking expressions of interest to refurbish eight lifts at Wollongong, and one lift at Shoalhaven Hospital.
It’s a selective tender, with responses sought from six operators only – Kone Elevators, Liftronic, Otis Elevator Company, ThyssenKrupp Elevator Australia, Electra Lift Co and Schindler Lifts Australia.
According to tender documents, lifts are to be modernised one at a time, to minimise disruption to staff, patients and visitors.
Northern Illawarra Hospital Group general manager Nicole Sheppard confirmed lift ttenders had been called for the lift refurbishment.
“Wollongong Hospital has a regular lift maintenance schedule as well as an asset management plan to replace priority lifts over time,” she said.
Ms Sheppard said funding for the upgrade had been granted through the NSW Government Asset Refurbishment and Replacement Program (ARRP) administered by Health Infrastructure.
“The ARRP is a $500 million, 10 year initiative with more than $150 million allocated to over 650 projects across NSW to date,” she said.
