The canine crime-fighter was among the police resources involved negotiations with a man who allegedly doused himself and a car in petrol, before making threats, outside the hospital’s emergency department.
Wollongong police commander Detective Acting Superintendent Chad Gillies has praised the actions of officers involved in bringing the “extremely volatile” situation to an end.
“Police put themselves in immediate risk, especially when they effected the arrest of this gentleman,” Supt Gillies said.
The work of PD Marley also wasn’t lost on Wollongong’s top cop.

“Two officers were assaulted as a result of the altercation and … the assistance of the police dog was greatly appreciated,” he said.
The 43-year-old man, from Nowra, sustained a dog bite wound during his arrest.
He remained in the hospital under police guard on Monday night, but is expected to be charged with multiple offences upon his release.
