A couple of shop customers sent Luke screenshots of their sounder readings that clearly showed 28-degree water just short of the shelf.
Again far too many people got fish over the weekend to mention them all but a big congrats to Tully Mackay on his first beaky last weekend with brother Coen on board Bean Flicking out of Bendalong.
The FADs were alight all last week with some big dollies being reported but getting them to take a bait or lure was a continuing problem for some on some days.
On other days they were launching themselves at anything that went near them - but that’s dolphin fish for you.
With another couple of game fishing comps on this weekend, make sure you have all your lures and terminal gear ready to roll.
If you are looking for some new lures for the spread, pop into the shop and check out the new range of locally made Jetts Lures now on the shelves and just in time for the Port Hacking 100 and also the 45th Shoalhaven Open tournament on this weekend.
The reds are still about in good numbers but size has diminished a little from previous reports.
There are a lot more 1kg to 2kg fish about than previously but there were some bigger fish about the deeper reefs, just not in the numbers we had before.
Still plenty of sampson fish about and rat kings to keep the anglers entertained but getting a bait to the bigger kings hanging under the rats proved nigh on impossible.
These babies were just a tad under legal but still fought well.
There were plenty of good sized mowies about as well as pigfish and trevally over the inshore reefs.
The flathead drifts continued to fire with bigger than normal fish on most if not all.
Mixed in amongst them were some good sized gummy sharks and some monster flounder as well with Stanwell Park and further north a couple of standout spots.
