A member of Brothers For Life gang has been charged with numerous offences as part of an investigation into violent acts in the Illawarra.

In October last year, detectives from the Criminal Groups Squad joined forces with Wollongong and Lake Illawarra Police Districts to established Strike Force Rednap. Their purpose was to investigate a number of public acts of violence, including public place shootings, in the Illawarra.
Their investigations revealed the acts were linked to a dispute between the Finks outlaw motorcycle gang and other groups including Brothers For Life.
On March 26 a 27-year-old man was arrested at Newcastle Police Station following police inquiries.
The man – a self-proclaimed member of the Brothers For Life – was charged with conspiracy to discharge firearm intend cause grievous bodily harm; conspiracy to fire firearm in or near public place, two counts of take part supply prohibited drug, and knowingly participate in criminal group assist crime.
He was remanded in custody and is next due to appear at Wollongong Local Court on May 7.
Investigations under Strike Force Rednap are continuing.
