During the service, candles engraved with the names of loved ones will be lit. These will then given to participants to keep as a memory of the service.
“With every funeral I take, I am more and more aware of how much people need to talk about their feelings,” senior minister of Kiama Anglican Churches, Reverend Steve Stanis said.
“Recently I have had some of the most intense and helpful conversations with people raw in their loss and grief for those they love.”
Afternoon tea will be served in the Church Point Centre after the service when there will be an opportunity to share feelings and memories, all of which is so important for grieving.
“When you lose someone close to you, you have the funeral and then life goes on and people expect you to be over it, but you aren’t,” Kiama Downs’ Sandra Ashley said.
“I know how helpful this service is. I can take time to have my own reflection and continue my own personal grief at losing them. God doesn’t forget.”
For further information or to RSVP, contact the Church Office on 4232 2066 or office@kiamaanglican.org.au including the name/s of loved ones for the engraved candles by Friday, June 22. There is no charge.
