As is well-known American singer Todrick Hall and his dancers.
Even the cast of Priscilla Queen of the Desert, have liked the fashion-forward illustrations and designs Troy Lester has put on his Instagram page.
But Wollongong choreographer and costume designer Lester was trying to win over a legion of younger fans during Southern Stars’ rehearsals on Tuesday.
About 300 students from a number of Illawarra and Sydney high schools descended on Bulli High School to work on an item for the ‘Fashion’ segment of this year’s spectacular.
The segment’s choreographers are Lester and Kate Sharp from Woonona High School.
For the past nine years Lester has also been the costume designer for Southern Stars.
The talented choreographer and designer said he was ecstatic to receive some love online from Danni Minogue – even though Kylie is his favourite Minogue.
“It’s great that Danni and other performers and entertainers are following and liking my Instagram illustrations,” he said.
“But my main focus at the moment is ensuring our ‘Fashion is Eternal’ segment is truly iconic.
“I’ve been given a lot of free reign and our costumes range from Marie Antoinette, 1920s flapper, 1950s Grease style, 1960s mod, Choose Life 80s, MC Hammer style, a homage to the little black dress, 1990s grunge, and futuristic style clothing.
“We are actually doing a 60s version of Kylie Minogue’s hit Locomotion, which should be fun.
“It’s going to be another great show.”
