Smash Mouth have announced they’re touring Australia later this year with regional and metro cities in the mix.

The alternative chart-toppers are mostly known for Can’t Get Enough of Your Baby, Walkin’ On The Sun and the remake of the Monkees classic I’m A Believer.

But don’t dwell too much on their hit All Star which featured in the animated movie Shrek. In recent years members of the group have been replying to comments about the two on Twitter to remind people they are more than one-hit wonders.

“We’re a totally different band live,” lead singer Steve Harwell said.

“People are constantly telling me how much more powerful our songs are live compared to the studio versions.  We are really looking forward to returning to Australia to perform – our fans got right into the spirit of our live shows.”

The last time the group was in the country was 2013 but skipped the Illawarra – this time around they’ll also be playing in Sydney, Tweed Heads, Brisbane, Albury, Canberra and Melbourne.

Anita’s Theatre managing director Nick Josifovski said Aussie ska punk mainstays Area 7 (of hits like Nobody Likes a Boand and Bitter Words) is set to be the support act.

Presale tickets are available now, with the rest on sale Monday July 20 at 9am via www.ticketmaster.com.au
