Rock fishing, whilst considered a dangerous sport, can also be very rewarding as most popular table species will be found in and around the rock ledges and outcrops.
In these zones, they will either be actively feeding or hugging the rocks for protection from other bigger marauding predators.
It is not uncommon to see monster 20 kilo kingfish on patrol right at the water’s edge terrorising smaller fish and also giving land-based anglers an increased adrenaline rise.
There have been some monster rock blackfish or pigs and thumping sized bream landed over the past few days as well as some nice bronze luderick. All three took a liking to fresh both peeled prawns and weed baits.
Again please exercise caution when rock fishing and don’t fish alone.
Beaches have been fairly quiet with recent calm conditions and super clear water before the last front. Now it has abated, it’s just a matter of finding a nice gutter which isn’t foul with seaweed but if you do the fishing should be pretty good.
