The property at 990 Jamberoo Mountain Road, ‘Brundahroo’ has a price guide of $1,490,000.
Located high on Jamberoo Mountain, it features three bedrooms, two bathrooms and a land area of 4047sqm.
Current owner Susan Blanchfield said her brother Michael bought 102 acres in the area in 1971, and in 1984 gave her one acre, where her property was built.
“He paid $7000 for 102 acres and the real estate agent called it ‘rubbish country’,” she said.
“Most of it is not useful in the agricultural sense, but if you love the bush it’s priceless.
“It’s magic country I think. It’s delightful to walk down through the rainforest.”
The home was completed in 1990.
Her brother has since left the area, with his original 102 acres divided into two 50-acre lots and two one-acre lots.
Ms Blanchfield said her home was “totally stand-alone, independent in terms of solar power and water”.
“I think I was one of the first in this area to put solar panels up here,” she said.
“I’ve got tank water, enough water for everything… I’m pretty independent from the grid, but it’s pretty easy to get to civilisation if I need to.
“It’s full of wildlife, which is wonderful.”
Ms Blanchfield said the property had been a labour of love, and featured a modern kitchen and other conveniences.
Other features include rich timber flooring, tiles, stain glass windows and a north-facing orientation.
A former visual arts lecturer, Ms Blanchfield said she was looking to relocate to a house she had built in Gerringong.
Selling agent, Vivienne Marris, principal at Elders Real Estate Jamberoo said the property offered a great view, as well as a great mix of old and new renovations.
She noted that one of the key features is the north-facing deck overlooking the tops of trees to glimpses of the ocean and coastline.
“From the deck there is access to the light, spacious lounge room with combustion fire and floor to ceiling doors and clear storey windows,” she said.
”The covered timber deck leading out from the studio is a very special place to observe countless visiting birds and native animals; inspiration for future works of art.”
There has been a series of high-profile sales in Jamberoo recently.
The private 120-acre property offers 180-degree expansive views over Jamberoo Valley, Lake Illawarra and the Illawarra coastline.
In February 2016, a luxury home, converted from part of the historic Jamberoo Milk Factory, sold for $1.48 million.
Its sister property was later listed on the market.
The property at 317 Jerrara Road, ‘Christmas River’, sold for $2.6 million in January.
