The Bale Out Ball: “Let’s Do It For Our Farmers”, will be held at the Fraternity Club on Saturday to highlight the plight of those doing it tough.
All proceeds from the September 8 event will go to Illawarra farmers – but could potentially support an entire country community.
Organisers Jenny Jones, Tracey Jansen and Renee Leighton were heartened by the support shown to farmers by the government and community but said more needed to be done.
“We need to understand that things are not OK in our country areas. The drought has taken a hold. We need to be raising funds and helping our farmers,” Ms Jones said.
The event will feature a cocktail food menu, a four-hour drinks package and live entertainment, as well as live and silent auctions and raffles.
Entertainment will be provided by Poor Boy Jack, a Yass-based band made up of farmers who have donated their time to the cause.
The dress code will be dress jeans, cocktail dress, sparkles and boots.
Ms Jones said by raising the awareness across regional areas such as the Illawarra, increased education and financial support would be forthcoming.
“I encourage people to attend our wonderful event. It’s for a great cause and every dollar counts,” she said.
Tickets are $85 and can be purchased from trybooking.com.
