The Students easily beat Robertson 6-2 in the preliminary final last Sunday and face another showdown with the Park after missing out last season.
This year’s competition was downgraded to a four-team league after Fairy Meadow withdrew due to a lack of players and Dapto opting out the previous year.
Coming into last Sunday’s final, University took a cautious approach to the game with Robertson’s different style of play.
But captain Heath Ogilvie and Kookaburra Tristan White tackled their opponents well to pin down their aggressive attack.
“It was a good game,” Ogilvie said. “Any hint of misconduct the umpires stomped out.
“Robbo did well, they are a good team but we were just able to get a couple of goals buffer early.”
The Students went into an early lead 10 minutes in with a sizzling penalty corner hit from White and the second from Brock McCracken to make it 2-0.
Robertson fought back to reduce the deficit through Jack Donovan but University increased that lead to 3-1 through Surendran just before half-time.
The second half saw the Students dominate play in midfield but just could not score until Nick Jennings broke that deadlock in the 45th minute taking the score to 4-1. With 10 minutes to go Chris Whitehall took the score to 5-1 before Robertson pulled one back through Nathan Wright from a penalty corner.
Heath Ogilvie had the last laugh in the final second of the game with a drag flick for a final score of 6-2.
University lost to Park 3-2 in the major semi and will be looking to reverse that result in the grand final.
In the other finals, University beat Dapto 1-0 in second grade, Blues beat Wests 2-1 in third grade, Wests beat Dapto 2-1 in fourth grade and Park beat Kiama 3-2 in fifth grade.
