Kiama Meals on Wheels has been operating in Kiama for 48 years, established under the compassion of Mrs Pat Bones who considered how meals could be prepared for folk in Kiama who were unable to prepare their own meals. She discussed this with friends Mrs Marion Witheridge and Mrs Jess Cardwell.

On July 2, 1970 the inaugural meeting of 25 ladies was chaired by Mr Flint, chairman of the Kiama Hospital Board. The first executive members were Mrs Bones, president; Mrs Witheridge, secretary; and Mrs Cardwell, treasurer.
The first meals were delivered on September 7, 1970 and Mrs Ann Dawes is still delivering meals since the inception.
