Captain Jeremy Bull said the 1-0 victory over Woonona was a rewarding feat.
“To win that game after our (division three) girls won the week before, it’s great for the club,” he said.
Kiama striker and the division’s leading goal-scorer Daniel Pridham suffered an asthma attack before the match and was unfit to play. Midfielder Ryan Stirling stepped into his position, heading the winning goal into the net off a corner-kick in the first half.
The game came to a standstill when a Woonona player dislocated his kneecap in the first half, and could not be safely moved off the pitch until paramedics attended.
Woonona did not give up.
“We were under the pump in the second half,” Bull said.
“They pushed another bloke upfront.”
Woonona’s keeper was awarded man of the match.
“He pulled off a heap of good saves,” Bull said.
