Jeffrey Nutland, 30, was charged with contravening the order after police visited the woman’s Woonona address Sunday afternoon and allegedly found him on the front lawn.

According to police, he hurried inside when he saw the officers, but submitted to being arrested soon afterwards.

Nutland was initially tearful as he appeared in Wollongong Local Court via AVL on Monday, but grew irate as the registrar refused him bail.

“The PINOP [person in need of protection] is in the room if you want to speak to her,” he volunteered, indicating his partner would vouch for him.

Told the woman would not be required to speak, he said “f--- this s--- … thanks everyone”. 

The court heard Nutland was the subject of a Suspect Targeting Management Plan, a system that aims to prevent crime by having police identify and keep tabs on people who are considered at risk of re-offending. 

The court heard Nutland had breached the terms of his bail 10 times since September 21. 

“It would have to be said that Mr Nutland has a total contempt for court orders,” police prosecutor Shannon Ryan said. 

“It’s quite clear that despite whatever orders are made by this court, Mr Nutland will do as he pleases.” 

Nutland is due to face court in February for earlier charges of contravening an AVO and damaging property. 

He is currently on a good behaviour bond for similar offences involving the same alleged victim.

In refusing bail, the registrar noted Nutland had a history of defying court orders.

The matter returns to court January 7.
