While most students return to school on Wednesday, kindergarten kids don’t start big school until next Monday.
Woonona Public principal Tim Fisher said February 4 will be a special day for the school.
“It has to be some sort of record. It is quite unbelievable to think we have got [five sets of twins] starting all in the one grade. It is really special,” he said.
“I don’t know if it is a record for the region.

“But I do know that if you are looking at our enrolments, we've got 80 kindergarten kids coming in and when you see that 10 of them will be twins, that's something pretty special.
“That is a pretty high percentage. I’m looking forward to welcoming them to our school officially on Monday.”
When the Mercury caught up with the twins and their parents earlier this week, it seemed the kids and adults alike were looking forward to the day.
“They’re ready for the next chapter and so are we,” joked Dane and Dena Rees.
The duo said their five-year-old twins Koa and Cielo were a ball of energy.
“They are really excited. I reckon they are ready for the next chapter. At the moment they feel a bit bored at home. They are ready to learn,” Mr Rees said.
Tahlia James said her boys [Cooper and Flynn Thompson] were more excited than their mum about starting school.
“I thought I would be a lot more excited but I think I’m getting a bit more emotional now as it is getting closer. I think Monday is going to be pretty sad, but I am excited for them,” Miss James said.
“Cooper is a little apprehensive but Flynn is assuring me he is going to protect him, which is cute.”
Darren Murray is happy his boys Noah and Samuel will have the backing of four other sets of twins at the school.
“It’s amazing isn’t it. You don’t see that every day,” Mr Murray said.

“That’s exciting as well because they’re not on their own, with four other sets at the school.”
Eve Roache also thought it was “incredible” that there were five sets of twins at Woonona.
She said her twins Eddie and Heidi Percy were looking forward to school and joining their big sister Esme.
“Monday is the big day. I’m looking forward to a bit of a break but also it will be quite nerve wracking and I’ll be thinking about them throughout the day and hoping they are okay and settling in okay,” Miss Roache said.
Maryann Bransdon said it was special that her girls Charlotte and Madison were part of five sets of twins at the one school.
