As part of the works on the Albion Park Rail bypass, the speed limit on the section of the motorway immediately north of the Illawarra Highway roundabout has been dropped.
The 100km/h northbound speed limit that normally starts just past the roundabout has been cut by 20 kilometres to 80km/h.
The start of the northbound 100km/h zone has been moved back to the Dapto off ramp.
It's a similar story southbound where the 100km/h speed limit now drops at the Dapto entrance to the motorway, rather than closer to Haywards Bay.
There are signs notifying motorists of the speed limit change but people on social media have been stating they were unaware of the drop.
A RMS spokesman said it was part of a series of traffic changes that had been introduced recently for the Albion Park Rail bypass work.
