However, according to police, while formal identification is yet to be complete, it’s not believed the body is that of a man reported missing from the Figure Eight Pools on Monday.
Police say Tuesday's discovery appears to be a separate incident, and the search to locate the missing male which began on Monday remains ongoing.
About 10.50am on Tuesday, emergency services were called after a man was seen floating in the water.
He was winched by helicopter, however NSW Ambulance Paramedics were unable to revive him, and he died at the scene.
A small fishing vessel has also been found on rocks near Bundeena.
Police remain on scene conducting inquiries into the circumstances surrounding the death.
